Universities Australia recently celebrated the growing impact of international students in Australia.

International students in Australia contributed a record $32.2 billion to the Australian economy, the country’s largest export after iron ore and coal.

Australia has a strong reputation for world-class education and academic research. Its international education sector has been growing since 2008.

There is a growing international student community in Australia, with 624,001 foreign students, including Filipinos, studying in the country in 2017. Most students apply for higher education courses (44%), while vocational education and training (27%) courses are also popular.

“International students are drawn to Australia because they know they’ll get a world-class education, global alumni networks, a great student experience and lifelong friendships with our country,” said Catriona Jackson, Universities Australia Acting Chief Executive.

Aside from making economic impact, the influx of foreign students also help forge closer cultural and diplomatic ties between Australia and countries all over the world.

Curious how you can become a student in Australia, and work at the same time? CIS can show you how. Send us a message here or through Facebook. You can also drop by our office for a free information session, or make an appointment.

We hope to meet you soon!
